Download College Hub Mobile Application in Android

Project Summary

College Hub is a mobile application that is going to be developed for the Engineering College. Currently the website of college is available but the increased demand in mobile application inspired us to develop a smart application that can be beneficial to all the students, faculty members and administrative staff. This application provides all the information related with college such as Infrastructure, Class Rooms, Laboratories, Programs Conducted in the college, Faculty Detail, Amenities. The idea behind development of this application is to improve the communication between faculty members and students. Students can get the notification of circulars and events instantly on their mobile application. Students can view Mid Exam Schedule, Mid Exam Marks, Syllabus, Assignment and Student Material using this mobile application. Students can send leave application directly from their mobile using this application and faculty member can grant or reject their leave application. Students can also send complain to the faculty members using this application. Faculty Members can take attendance during lectures and laboratory using this mobile application. Thus “College Hub” is a mobile application which provides efficient faculty and student communication at reasonable cost.

Purpose: Goals & Objectives

The primary goal of “College Hub” application is to prepare a mobile application that provides effective communication between faculty members and students of the college. The secondary goal of the system is to provide all necessary information of the college such as Infrastructure, Class Rooms, Laboratories, Programs Conducted in the college, Faculty Detail, Amenities. The third goal of the system is to provide enhanced functionality to faculty members and student that can be operated easily using smart device like phone or tablet.

Following are the objectives of “College Hub” mobile application:
(1) Provide all necessary information of the college to parents and students.
(2) Provide enhanced functionality to faculty members and students.
(3) Attendance of the students can be taken directly using smart phone.
(4) Leave application or complain can be send by students directly using smart phone.
(5) Provide the facility of downloading assignments and study materials.
(6) Provide the facility of displaying Exam Schedule and Exam result.
(7) Provide the facility of sending notification of circulars and events.

The mobile application “College Hub” can be used by all the colleges such as Engineering College, Polytechnic College, Medical College, MBA College, MCA College. This application can be used by all the faculty members, students, parents and administrative staff of the college. Thus the application can be used by college for effective communication between faculty members and students.

STUDY OF CURRENT SYSTEM

In order to develop the application we started to analyze the current system of the college. Currently the college having website that provides basic information of the college. It provides information such as Programs offered by college, Faculty list, Services, Events and Circular of the college. Thus current system does not provide effective communication between faculty and student.Current system does not provide the facility of taking attendance of students directly from the classroom. It does not provide the facility of sending leave application or sending complain to the faculty members. Current system provides basic college information but does not provides enhanced functionality to faculty members and students.

PROBLEM AND WEAKNESSES OF CURRENT SYSTEM

After study of current system we found following problems and weaknesses in the system. Following are the some of the problems and weaknesses of current system:
(1) The functionality provided by the current system is limited.
(2) It does not provide the facility of sending leave application.
(3) It does not provide the facility of sending complain to faculty members.
(4) Attendance of the students cannot be taken using this system.
(5) Students cannot get notification regarding circulars and events of the college.

REQUIREMENTS OF NEW SYSTEM

In order to overcome the problems and weaknesses of current system we proposed to develop a new system which can be operated using smart phones. The system provides efficient functionalities to the faculty members, students and admin staff of the college.

MAIN MODULES OF NEW SYSTEM

There are three types of users in this system
(1) Administrator
(2) Faculty
(3) Student
(1) Administrator:

• Manage course: Administrator can manage various courses.
• Manage course wise faculty profile: Administrator can handle faculty among their qualification.
• Manage course wise laboratory and class rooms: Can arrange class and laboratory.
• Manage facility: Can arrange subject wise faculty.
• Manage fees structure: Can manage fess structure.
• Manage circulars: Create new circulars according to the college.
• Manage achievement: Give achievement to student or faculty for their best work.
• Manage Events: Create event according to the academic year.

(2) Faculty

• Upload study materials: Faculty can upload assignments, lecture notes, presentation files according their subject.
• Fill attendance: Can fill online attendance
• View/Approve leave application of students: Faculty can read the leave application which is sent by student and approve it or reject it
• View complaints by students: Read complain by the student and take the appropriate action.
• Manage students: can add student and remove student from the class
• Manage Mid semester exam time table and college time table: Upload Mid semester exam schedules and college schedules
• Manage Mid semester exam result: Declare result of students.

(3) Student Functionality

• View college information: Student can explore college details. Like laboratory details, library details, faculty profile.
• Download study materials: Student can download the assignment, lecture note and presentation files which are uploaded by their faculty.
• Send leave application: Student submit leave application to the faculty member.
• Send complain to faculty: If student have any query related to the subject or any other convenience then they can give complain to the faculty.
• View attendance report: Student can check his/her attendance.
• View Mid Semester result: View mid semester exam result.
